Okay, let's address the elephant in the room. It's been quiet here. Like, really quiet. My last post was sometime back in the whirlwind of 2020 – back when 'pivot' became everyone's least favorite word and we were all figuring things out on the fly.
So, where have I been for the last four years?
Short answer: in the trenches. Building. Mostly StoreHub.
Turns out, scaling a tech company across Southeast Asia, especially navigating a global pandemic (remember launching Beep Delivery in basically 48 hours? Yeah, that was wild), doesn't leave much headspace for crafting blog posts. My focus was squarely on execution – keeping the lights on, supporting our team, and helping our 17,000+ merchants survive and adapt. Because, like I keep saying, ideas are cheap; it's the relentless grind of making things work that truly matters.
But lately, I've felt the itch to share again. The founder journey is... a lot. It's messy. It’s full of unexpected wins, brutal lessons, moments of clarity, and days where you question everything. Reflecting on that, and seeing the state of tech and business in SEA today, feels important.
So, what can you expect from this rebooted space?
Honestly, it’s still going to be about the same core things that drive me, the stuff that genuinely keeps me up at night or gets me fired up:
- The messy reality of building and scaling a startup in Southeast Asia. No sugar-coating.
- Fighting bad tech and building tools that actually solve real pain for the small guys.
- Building company culture brick by brick, deliberately. (Still learning here!)
- Lessons learned from the daily grind, the failures, and maybe even the occasional insight gleaned from a late-night gaming session.
I recently dug up a backup of all my old writings. It was… interesting. Some ideas surprisingly hold up, others make me cringe slightly. Maybe I'll revisit some of those old threads here eventually, see how things look with fresh eyes and a few more scars.
Anyway, consider the dust officially blown off the keyboard. I'm aiming to share thoughts, reflections, and hard-won lessons more regularly again. Not promising a rigid schedule, but the intent is there.
Hope you'll stick around. Feel free to drop a comment below – what's on your mind? What problems are you trying to solve right now?
Let's get back to building.
